Coconut Syrup

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbs butter

  • ½ cup buttermilk*

  • 1 cup sugar

  • ½ tsp coconut flavoring

  • ½ tsp almond flavoring

  • ½ tsp baking soda

Directions

Combine butter, milk, and sugar in a saucepan and heat umtil sugear dissolves. Don’t boil.

Remove from heat and add flavorings and baking soda. Stir until consistency smoothes.

*To make buttermilk, use just shy of ½ cup 2% or whole milk. Stir in 3/4 tsp white vinegar or lemon juice and let sit for 5-10 minutes at room temperature. The milk will thicken and begin to curdle. Use in recipe.
