Grammie’s Chili Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vinegar

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 3 Tbs salt

  • ⅔ tsp allspice

  • ½ tsp cloves

  • 1 tsp ginger

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp mustard

  • Pinch cayenne pepper

  • 5 large onions, minced

  • 3 green peppers, minced

  • 6 apples, cubed

  • 35 tomatoes

Directions

Bring to a boil then cook over medium heat for 2 ½ hours. 

To seal: Fill into mason jars, tighten lids, invert for 20 minutes, stand upright to seal.

Great on meats, sandwiches and a fancy–schmany condiment to give as a gift, this recipe makes a TON.
