Steak Stroganoff Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 pound flank steak

  • 2 Tbs butter

  • 4 cups onion, sliced in rings

  • Dashes paprika

Marinade

  • 2/3 cup beer

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp pepper

For serving: Rice or pasta, horseradish sauce.

Directions

Mix marinade ingredients in a zipper bag.

Place steak on a cutting board, poke holes in steak to tenderize and take in marinade, place into marinade and seal.

Cover overnight in refrigerator or several hours.

Before serving:

Take meat our of fridge to let come to room temperature. Drain off marinade.

In a small pan, sauté and carmelize onions.

Just before serving, broil steak 3” from heating element for 5–7 minutes on each side. Let rest then thinly slice meat across grain. 

Top with onions and serve over rice or pasta.

Note

To make sandwiches

Lightly butter slices of bread and broil untll golden. In a small skillet, melt butter. Add onions and cook till tender. 

Arrange meat slices over two pieces of bread. Top with onions. Combine sour cream and horseradish, spoon onto each sandwich. Sprinkle with paprika if desired.
