Ingredients

  • 4 pounds beef brisket 

  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 2 Tbs chili powder 

  • 1 tsp crushed bay leaves

  • 2 Tbs Liquid Smoke

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion

  • 1 Tbs oil

  • 2 pounds ground beef

  • 1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vinegar

  • 3/4 cup ketchup

  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard

  • 3/4 cup celery, finely chopped

  • 2 Tbs lemon juice

  • 1 Tbs brown sugar

  • Hamburger buns

Directions

Sauté onion in oil. Add beef and brown lightly. Drain off excess fat. Add rest of ingredients; simmer covered for 30 minutes. Scoop on to hamburger buns. 

Makes about 4 cups, triple the recipe to make for a party or to freeze.
